"The University of Michigan consumer sentiment index plunged 9.3 points (12%) to 68.2 in early March. A surge in inflation expectations drove much of the decline. Long-term inflation expectations jumped to 3.2% from 2.9%, breaking above their recent range. Short-term inflation expectations rose to 4.6% from 3.4%."
