ANZ: Housing purchase affordability improve significantly in the past 6 months

From ANZ today:

Lower house prices, rising household incomes and reduced mortgage rates have seen housing purchase affordability improve significantly in the past 6 months.

In contrast, tight rental markets and accelerating rents are driving deterioration in rental affordability – creating further difficulties for the most vulnerable households.

Volatile equity markets and improved home purchase affordability combined with rising rents and higher investor yields will increasingly attract first-homebuyers and investors back into the purchase market.
