The author has been described by News Ltd as an "iconoclast", "Svengali", a pollie's "economist muse", and "pungently accurate". Fairfax says he is a "Renaissance man" and "one of Australia’s most respected analysts." Stephen Koukoulas concludes that he is "85% right", and "would make a great Opposition leader." Terry McCrann claims the author thinks "‘nuance’ is a trendy village in the south of France", but can be "scintillating" when he thinks "clearly". 42% (58%) of 26 surveyed economists think RBA will hold (cut)

These are the latest Bloomberg survey results. In short, economists slightly favour a single RBA cut, with 11 predicting the RBA will hold while 15 are forecasting a reduction in the official cash rate to 4.50%. I note that only one mainstream economist in Australia is predicting the RBA will cut twice (50bps) on Tuesday: viz., former advisor to Julia Gillard, Stephen Koukoulas.
