The author has been described by News Ltd as an "iconoclast", "Svengali", a pollie's "economist muse", and "pungently accurate". Fairfax says he is a "Renaissance man" and "one of Australia’s most respected analysts." Stephen Koukoulas concludes that he is "85% right", and "would make a great Opposition leader." Terry McCrann claims the author thinks "‘nuance’ is a trendy village in the south of France", but can be "scintillating" when he thinks "clearly". RBA appoints first female Assistant Governor in history
Australia's central bank made history today, appointing its first female Assistant Governor. Congratulations to Michelle Bullock! I was punting on Luci Ellis, but she evidently has a few years to go yet. I am nevertheless confident that Luci will one day become an AG. I think I was the first person to draw attention to the fact that the RBA had never selected a female AG, and I hope that this advocacy helped remove any residual frictions that may have conspired to obstruct Michelle's path. The female lacuna at the top of the RBA was indeed a curiosity.
