The author has been described by News Ltd as an "iconoclast", "Svengali", a pollie's "economist muse", and "pungently accurate". Fairfax says he is a "Renaissance man" and "one of Australia’s most respected analysts." Stephen Koukoulas concludes that he is "85% right", and "would make a great Opposition leader." Terry McCrann claims the author thinks "‘nuance’ is a trendy village in the south of France", but can be "scintillating" when he thinks "clearly". The ACTU reckons he’s "an enigma wrapped in a Bloomberg terminal, wrapped in some apparently well-honed abs."

Wall Street Journal covers my debate with GMO boss Jeremy Grantham
Pretty amazing coverage from the Wall Street Journal today. I think we have actually been quite consistently bearish on capital growth in the second half of 2010, which is proving correct, and bearish on any growth at all in the event that lending rates rise more than 100bps (illustrating our historical analysis that this connotes dwelling price declines). We just don't buy at all Jeremy's claims of a 7.5 times dwelling price to disposable income ratio. And pretty much every bank and regulator in Australia agrees with us.
