The author has been described by News Ltd as an "iconoclast", "Svengali", a pollie's "economist muse", and "pungently accurate". Fairfax says he is a "Renaissance man" and "one of Australia’s most respected analysts." Stephen Koukoulas concludes that he is "85% right", and "would make a great Opposition leader." Terry McCrann claims the author thinks "‘nuance’ is a trendy village in the south of France", but can be "scintillating" when he thinks "clearly". The ACTU reckons he’s "an enigma wrapped in a Bloomberg terminal, wrapped in some apparently well-honed abs."

Correction: Terry McCrann picked it.
Or at least he just told me that on Business Sunday he had said he would not be surprised to see the RBA 'pause', and had previously claimed it was a 50:50 call (excellent article, by the way). Contextualise this against Centrebet, which would not take orders from punters given their belief that there was a 'zero probability' rates would remain unchanged. Terry should put his money where his mouth is and he would not have to write any more News Ltd columns. I am not going to beat my old governance drum again. So McCrann is either a damned genius, or remarkably well-informed. You be the judge. I honestly don't know. He is certainly a curious cat characterised by a distinctly idiosyncratic writing style!
