The author has been described by News Ltd as an "iconoclast", "Svengali", a pollie's "economist muse", and "pungently accurate". Fairfax says he is a "Renaissance man" and "one of Australia’s most respected analysts." Stephen Koukoulas concludes that he is "85% right", and "would make a great Opposition leader." Terry McCrann claims the author thinks "‘nuance’ is a trendy village in the south of France", but can be "scintillating" when he thinks "clearly". The ACTU reckons he’s "an enigma wrapped in a Bloomberg terminal, wrapped in some apparently well-honed abs."

Koukie joins the blogosphere!
Former TDS market strategist, advisor to Julia Gillard, and, judging by his own public remarks, fervent Labor Party supporter, Stephen Koukoulas, has joined the blogosphere. And a valuable addition to the domestic scene Stevie is. You can read him over here. Steve has occasionally contributed to this blog under a nom de plume, and previously confided that Fairfax jouno, Peter Martin, and Aussie Macro Moments were his two favourite local blogs. He may have modified this view following a recent debate we've had over whether the RBA would cut by 25bps in October, 50bps by November, and/or by 125bps by June 2012. Steve writes well and is a good economist with lots of diverse experience. So, if you want to read interesting prose and a defence of the Labor Government's economic policy settings, read Steve.
